Electrically Bulletproof

  • Dual 34.5 kV feeders terminate in parallel GIS switchgear.
  • 2N lithium-iron-phosphate UPS (ride-through > 300 s).
  • Six 3 MW Tier 4i generators with 72 h on-site fuel, hot-standby with black-start.
  • Distribution at 415/240 V straight to bus-way; mechanical loads isolated on 480/277 V step-ups for efficiency.

Liquid-First, Air-Assist Cooling

A closed glycol loop feeds 250 kW CDUs delivering 60 °C coolant to immersion tanks. 20% residual heat (network switches, PSUs, battery strings) is handled by CRAH units with EC fans. The loop rejects to dry coolers nine months a year, economising 68% of annual chiller runtime.

White Space Layout

Six pod clusters, each 60 U immersion tanks in a horseshoe backed by power bus-ways. Hot-pluggable CDU modules live at row ends. Aisles stay below 27 °C even at full load. Colour-coded lighting guides techs to service zones.

Sustainability & Community

The site operates on a 10-year 100% renewable PPA backed by ERCOT wind and solar. Waste heat supports a neighbouring greenhouse cooperative, offsetting 1.8 k tons CO₂ e annually. Northfield participates in the local STEM program, providing real-time energy dashboards to high-school classes.
